According to the Canton Police Department, the crash occurred around 7 a.m. and involved only one vehicle. Investigators say Khan was driving a truck while taking his son to school when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle veered into a building with significant force. “I just tried to make sure he stayed calm,” she said, explaining how she ran toward the crash after ensuring the intersection was safe. “I wasn’t sure of the extent of his injuries.”

The owner of the building struck by the vehicle, Canton City Market owner Ronak Patel, expressed both relief and sorrow following the incident. Patel noted that he typically arrives at the location later in the morning and realized the truck struck the exact area where he would normally be standing.
While grateful the crash did not result in more casualties, Patel emphasized the tragedy of the loss of life.
“The biggest thing is the family, somebody lost their life. Business, I can fix it and repair it and start running, but who lost their lives, they’re not going to come back,” he said.
The crash also impacted the nearby school community, as police confirmed that Khan and his son were traveling toward the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park, which serves several high schools in the district. In response to the incident, school officials announced that counseling and support services would be made available to students affected by the news.
As the investigation continues, Sheldon Road was temporarily closed in both directions between Arlington Road and Sheldon Center to allow authorities to examine the scene. The road has since reopened.
