Kevin Saharic Obituary, Death – The community of Lebanon Borough, New Jersey is grieving the sudden passing of Kevin James Saharic, age 62, who died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. A lifelong resident, dedicated firefighter, and respected public servant, Kevin’s death has left family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors reflecting on a life defined by service, loyalty, and deep community commitment.

Born on January 16, 1964, in Red Bank, New Jersey, Kevin was the son of Alexander “Lex” and Hazel (Minaldi) Saharic. He spent his early years in Sea Bright before moving to Lebanon in 1974, where he would remain for the rest of his life. He later graduated from North Hunterdon High School in 1982, forming roots that kept him closely tied to the community he grew up in and loved.

Kevin shared a remarkable lifelong partnership with his wife, Michele Kimberly Saharic. The couple, high school sweethearts, married in 1985 and recently celebrated 40 years of marriage. Their relationship stood as a testament to enduring love, shared commitment, and family devotion.

Professionally, Kevin dedicated an extraordinary 44 years of service to Tamke Tree Experts in Bernardsville, where he worked as Fleet and Property Manager. Colleagues describe him as dependable, hardworking, and deeply loyal someone whose presence was a cornerstone of the organization.

However, it was his lifelong dedication to fire and rescue service that truly defined him. Kevin joined the Lebanon Fire Company in 1980 and spent decades serving his community in various leadership roles, including 23 years as Fire Chief. At the time of his passing, he was serving as Captain and Public Safety Director for the Borough of Lebanon.

Throughout his career, Kevin was widely respected for his bravery and commitment to public safety. He received numerous honors, including the Medal of Valor for his heroic actions during a fire in which he rescued both a downed firefighter and a civilian. His service extended beyond Lebanon, as he was also a member of Sea Bright Fire Rescue, serving alongside his father, Lex, who remains the oldest living member of that department.

Kevin’s influence extended throughout the firefighting community. He was a member of the Hunterdon County Fire Chiefs Association, a founding member of the FAST Team in Hunterdon County, and a founding member of the North Hunterdon Fire Alliance (Squad 51). He also served as Secretary for the New Jersey State Firemen’s Relief Association, contributing to fire service leadership and safety initiatives across the state.

In recognition of his lifelong dedication, Kevin was honored as Grand Marshal of the Lebanon Borough Fourth of July Parade in 2024—an acknowledgment of the profound impact he had on the town he served so faithfully.
